Country Coordinator – Intersectionality SRHR Consortium

Duties:



  • Drives the process of yearly planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning, ToC revision and country planning, in cooperation with the country coordination groups.
  • Coordinates joint annual planning, reflection/evaluation and learning for the country.
  • Organises and chairs Country Coordination Group meetings.
  • Encourages working together on activities and interventions when this is beneficial and/or required to realize the aspired outcomes and objectives.
  • Leads L&A-related research and evidence gathering and learning and supports the team to implement L&A activities to achieve improved, youth-friendly, sexual and reproductive health rights and services, and increased health financing.
  • Monitors alignment of activities of partners to prevent duplications or conflicting messages and keeps an eye on potential collaborative efforts that will contribute to realizing the ambitions and objectives of the programme in the country.
  • Monitors the progress of the activity work plan and monitors the budget depletion, based on the inputs of the consortium partners.
  • Assures alignment of narrative reporting (both progress and annual).
  • Coordinates the lobby & advocacy of the consortium in the country.
  • Is responsible for setting up, selecting and mentoring the local youth representation in the youth panel.
  • Acts as the programme’s point of contact for external parties (such as diplomatic representations in the country), representing the programme in the country.
  • Manages a small grant (approximately € 30.000 a year) aimed at facilitating consortium activities including learning activities, advocacy activities, and partners’ and youth panel activities.
  • Takes leadership in emergencies, working closely with the safeguarding staff at VSO and consortium level.
  • Takes effective measures to create as much safety and security of consortium organizations, linked CSOs and staff & volunteers are being implemented.
  • Ensures the efficient delivery of resources to meet the objectives of the Country ToC.
  • Ensures that evidence of lessons learned from the evaluation is being used to adapt ongoing programs and inform future program development. Information on good practice, learning and knowledge is sought and shared within the country, region and the wider organization.
  • Creates a positive working relationship with the Dutch embassy.

Job Requirement:                       

Qualification:

Education: 

  • A relevant degree or equivalent in public health, reproductive health, and social development studies with knowledge and experience in sexual reproductive health medicine, or related discipline.

Experience:

  • Over 10 years experience working for NGOs, of which at least 5 years with an INGO, including management of programs.
  • 5 to 7 years experience working in (SRHR) consortium programmes.
  • Experience in donor reporting on impact, changes and effectiveness measures, especially with regard to major donors.
  • Experience with lobbying & advocacy, gender mainstreaming, youth engagement, and/or social accountability mechanisms.
  • Practical experience gained within a volunteering/NGO context and working within an international team.
  • Experience in the coordination of complex programmes that engage different partners and stakeholders.

Skills:

  • Evidence of understanding the challenges of working in consortia and its implications for program management. Ability to coordinate a consortium program, and coach a high-performing team of staff of multiple organizations.
  • Excellent understanding of consortium program cycle management tools to ensure effective planning, resourcing, implementation and review of programs.
  • Practical experience in applying Lobby & advocacy issues at a country and consortium program level.
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of lobby & advocacy issues.
  • Experience and knowledge of the relevant program areas: strengthening of (networks) of CSO’s, SRHR, Intersectionality and youth involvement.
  • Able to develop multiple ideas to solve challenging issues or new, demanding situations and take swift decisions, including in high-risk situations.
  • Multi-tasker and able to manage pressure.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
